Obituary of Alvina Ohlhauser
Alvina Ohlhauser (nee Schock) of Calgary passed away peacefully on January 5, 2005 at the age of 87 years.
Alvina was born in Odessa, Ukraine in 1917 to Simon Schock and Caroline Pfaff Schock. Alvina immigrated to Canada in 1949 with her son Albert. They resided in the Turner Valley, AB and Carbon, AB areas where she met and fell in love with her husband Art Ohlhauser. Alvina and Art were married on August 22, 1950 in the town of Carbon. Together they worked in the farming community and there they made their loving home. Alvina was a dedicated member of the Carbon Baptist Church. She loved cooking and baking and ensuring that all friends and relatives who stopped by were well-fed before they left. Alvina also loved fishing, needlework, gardening and was a master crocheter.
Alvina is survived by her son Albert and wife Cherry, her grandchildren and their spouses, Ken and Naomi Ohlhauser, Llonda and Rob Leaver, her great-granddaughters Brielle Leaver and Hana Ohlhauser all of Calgary, as well as her many friends and other relatives. Alvina was predeceased by her husband Arthur Ohlhauser (1972) as well as her parents and her four brothers.
A Private Family Service will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2005. Family and friends are welcome to join us for the Graveside Service at Bethel Cemetery, Carbon, AB at 1:00 p.m. on January 25, 2005. There will also be a Celebration of Alvina’s Life held at the Good n’ Plenty Restaurant in Carbon, AB immediately following internment. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
