Obituary of Ruth Amelia Thompson
Ruth Amelia Thompson of Calgary, formerly of Ogema, SK passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at the age of 95 years.
Ruth was born on September 11, 1909 in Mound City, SD. Her family moved to Ogema, SK to pioneer farm. Ruth and Edward married in 1928 and continued to farm in Saskatchewan. In 1958, Ruth and Ed purchased a home in Calgary to be closer to their family but also continued to farm in Saskatchewan. Ruth continued to pursue her passion for caring for people, both spiritually and physically by studying and teaching the Bible since 1944, also by becoming a nurse at the age of 50, and retiring in 1964. She continued her care-giving through Reflexology into her early eighties. Everyone that knew Ruth will remember her and love her for kindness and care to all that met her.
Ruth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dewey and Roberta Thompson; and her daughter and son-in-law, Ruby and Steve Hood; three grandchildren, Debbie (Myles) Leonard, Sandi Hood, and Ryan Thompson; two great-grandchildren, Tracy (Jeremy) Dueck and Tyler Leonard; as well as one great great-grandchild Austin Dueck, all of Calgary. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Edward in 1996; grandson, Rex Thompson in 1958; three sisters; and ten brothers.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Sunday, December 26, 2004 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Bowness (8104 Bowness Road N.W.) on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to be held at Ogema Cemetery, Ogema, SK at a later date. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
