Obituary of Dorothy Katherine Halton
Dr. Dorothy Katherine Halton passed away in Ottawa, ON on Saturday, December 11, 2004.
During her forty years, Dorothy led a very rich and full life. Born in Calgary, she excelled in music and academics, developed her passion for the outdoors, and established herself as a high achiever. After completing several music degrees in Calgary, Victoria, BC, London, ON, and Florida, Dorothy moved to Vancouver and Whistler, BC for several years where she enjoyed her love of the outdoors and skiing, hiking and cycling. Dorothy next fulfilled a lifelong ambition as an Emergency Room Physician. She graduated from Queen’s University in Kingston, ON and practiced mainly in Ottawa and Thunder Bay. Dorothy also travelled to numerous places around the world from Costa Rica to Europe to Nepal. She gained friendships everywhere she travelled and lived.
Dorothy is survived by her mother Eleanor; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Hap, Keiko and George, Barbara and David, Esther and Joe, and Lorna and Philip; nine nieces and nephews, Ann, Kira and Jeff, David and Norika, Candice, Graham, Catherine, Byron, Teagan, and Elizabeth; two great-nieces, Chloe and Julia; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Dorothy was predeceased by her father Ernie; and her brother Ken.
A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held at Parkdale United Church (2919 – 8th Avenue N.W.) on Monday, December 20, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Jan Craig officiating. A further Memorial Service is being planned for January 15, 2005 in Ottawa. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
