Obituary of Philip Wong
Mr. Philip Wong of Calgary, Alberta passed away peacefully at home on November 26, 2004 after a brief illness at the age of 78 years.
Born in Canton, China on July 23, 1926, Philip had an early career in the military until the end of the Civil War when he moved to Hong Kong. He ran his own business in the textile industry until moving to Calgary in 1980. He worked at the Westin Hotel until his retirement in 1991. An avid stamp collector, Philip also enjoyed many fine things in life. He traveled to many places in Mainland China during his years with the military. In more recent years, he had been to many cities in Canada, United States and as far as Varadero, Cuba. Mr. Wong is lovingly remembered by one son and daughter-in-law and three daughters and four sons-in-law; Wayne and Esther, Addy Wong, Maggie and Eddy Huish, Rita and Edmond Chung, Viola and Fred Lee, all of Calgary. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Wesley, Hilda, Rhoda, Christopher, Eva, Melissa, Philip and Martin. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Jak-cheng in 1999 and daughter Winnie in 2002.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, December 3, 2004 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
