Obituary of Robert J. Egan
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Egan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. who passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Sunday, November 7, 2004 at the age of 71 years.
Bob was born on July 27, 1933, the third of four brothers in Shellbrook, SK. His family moved to New Westminster, BC when he was a young boy. He moved to Calgary when he was a young man, and found employment with General Electric, and then Westinghouse, where he remained until his retirement. Bob enjoyed his many years with Westinghouse, he also loved hunting with his friends, and later on in his full life, he played golf. He was an active member of the Shawnee Golf Club. Bob was always an active volunteer worker of the community and a member of the men’s club of Holy Nativity Church.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Maryon; his son and daughter-in-law Gary and Kerry Egan; daughter and son-in-law Debra Egan-Gagne and Luc Gagne; his grandchildren, David Egan, and Alison Egan; and his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Rose Egan of Vavenby, BC. He will be missed by his stepsons, James, Alex, and Douglas Petrie; and their children to whom he was always lovingly available. Bob is also survived by many nieces and nephews in BC, and Montana.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, November 12, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Jagdutt Singh officiating. Society of Alberta (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), Suite 400, 320 – 23 Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB T2S 0J2. Thank you to those who cared for Bob during the time of his illness. Our family especially wishes to thank those wonderful Doctors and Nurses at the Emergency Department, and the Rockyview General Hospital for their expertise and loving care. We will never forget the dignity they showed to our beloved Robert.
