Obituary of Ted R. Kanik
It is with great sadness that the family of Ted R. Kanik announces his passing at the Foothills Medical Centre on Friday, October 15, 2004 with his loving family at his side.
Ted was born on March 7th, 1932 in Goodeve, SK. Upon completing High School in Goodeve, Ted entered the University of Saskatchewan in 1951 and received a Degree in Geological Engineering in 1955. Ted moved to Calgary where he began his extensive and rewarding career in the Energy sector. After many years with Gulf Canada, Tenneco and CDC, Ted formed his own private Oil & Gas company, Kanrock Resources, which is associated with Signalta Resources. Ted took great pride in his many industry accomplishments and more importantly, the great business and personal relationships he developed over the years.
After his retirement, Ted found great pleasure in golfing and curling at the Glencoe Club. Ted was an active member in the Golf Club both participating and organizing various events. In addition, Ted was an avid curler and took great pleasure in curling with his many friends at the Glencoe Club.
Ted is survived by his loving wife of fourty-two years, Una; and his two daughters, Marian Louise Kanik-Basilis (Angel Basilis) and Lisa Anne Kanik. In addition, he is survived by two cherished grandchildren, Alex and Sarah Basilis. Also left to mourn Ted’s passing are seven brothers and sisters, Stan, Sophia, Joseph, Joan, Rosalind, Myron and Lorna and their families.
