Obituary of Fred Yellow Old Woman
Fred went home to be with our heavenly Lord and Saviour on October 10, 2004, surrounded by his loving family.
Fred was an excellent athlete, which won him many awards and he promoted sports as a coach. His passion and generous commitment to Culture, Education, and the Arts was felt by various organizations in which he served. He was also instrumental in the opening of the first inner city Sweat Lodge in Calgary. His stories, songs, generous heart, and legendary humour have touched countless lives in their New Beginning. He was the proud grandson of the legendary Deerfoot.
Fred is survived by his loving wife Sylvia; their six children Treffrey, Wilbur (Frankie), Rodney (Debbie), Freda (Al Brunell), Shawn (Tammy) and Jenny Axe; adopted children, Colleen Moore and Don Johnson; a sister-in-law Eve Yellow Old Woman; a brother-in-law Richard (Dick) Raw Eater; two brothers Vincent (Vicky) and Edward Yellow Old Woman; two half – brothers, Roy and Michael Fox; a half – sister Shirely Fox; twenty-one grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces; Auntie Georgina Ayoungman (MayField); Cousin John Yellow Old Woman; Turning Robes; Pretty Young Mans; Winnipeg’s; May Fields; the Red Crows; the Raw Eaters; and the rest of the family of Yellow Old Woman.
Fred was predeceased by his siblings, Annette, Gordon, Roger Fox, Cecilia, Christine, and Angeline Yellow Old Woman; and his parents Edward and Betsy Yellow Old Woman.
Wake Services will be held at the Residence of Tammy and Shawn Yellow Old Woman today, October 14, 2004, at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will commence on Friday, October 15, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Siksika Community Centre. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
