Obituary of Rosma Elizabeth Tweedle
Rosma Elizabeth Tweedle (nee O’Neil) of Calgary passed away at the Foothills Hospital at the age of 97 years on Thursday, September 2, 2004, after a fall the previous week.
Rosma was born June 5, 1907 in High River, AB. She married Nyall on January 12, 1935 and taught school until she began raising her family. She was a feisty, competitive and independent woman who until the end enjoyed living in her own home. She enjoyed playing bridge and cribbage in “her” two senior centres. Rosma was a fun loving lady with a great sense of humour. She served as a wonderful example to family and friends.
Rosma is survived by her two daughters and one son-in-law; Elynn Baker of Palm Desert, CA and Rosma (Sue) and Chuck Payne of Vermilion, AB as well as eighteen grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren. She is also survived by six nieces and nephews. Rosma was predeceased by her husband Nyall Tweedle, two daughters Joan Marie and Beverly Anne, a son-in-law Charles Baker and a brother William Gordon McRae.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
