Obituary of George Arthur Camden
It is with sorrow the family announces the passing of George A. Camden on Thursday, June 17, 2004, at the age of 94.
Born in Sheffield, England on December 19, 1909, George’s family moved to the Calgary and Cochrane areas in 1912 when he was three years old. His first wife Iris predeceased him in 1987. A sister Elsie passed away in 1959, and daughter-in-law Sylvia in 2003. He is survived by his second wife, Gladys; a brother Cyril of Cochrane, AB; and sister Doris Estabrooks of Calgary; along with his two children, Bud of Calgary and Carol (Dave) Turner of Edmonton; four grandchildren, Don (Karen) Turner of Calmer, AB, Darryl (Wendy) Turner of Lethbridge, AB, Kelly of Strathmore, AB, and Kari (Robin) Bauer of Calgary; ten great-grandchildren; number of nieces, nephews and step-children.
George was a sales representative throughout his career in the plumbing, heating, and hardware businesses traveling throughout southern Alberta. He was a Past President of the A.C.T. Calgary Club and a Director on the A.C.T.’s Dominion Council, a member of the Perfection Lodge, the North Hill Curling Club, the Calgary Elks Lodge and Golf Club, the Mechanical Contractors Association of Alberta, and a member of the Oldtime Salesmen.
Memorial Services will be held at the Calgary Elks Lodge (2502 – 6th Street N.E.) on Sunday, July 4, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Del Christensen officiating.
