Obituary of Lorraine Blanche McGowan
Lorraine Blanche McGowan (nee Woodcock) of Calgary passed away at her home on Sunday, June 27, 2004 at the age of 79 years.
Lorraine was born February 3, 1925 in Saskatoon, SK. She was educated at the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Toronto. Lorraine taught school in several locations as her late husband Lloyd relocated during his career with Imperial Oil. She enjoyed genealogy through which she successfully proved she was a United Empire Loyalist. Lorraine will also be remembered for her cooking accomplishments, hosting many memorable dinners.
Lorraine is lovingly remembered by her daughter Jacqueline McGowan; and her son Douglas McGowan, both of Calgary. She is also survived by her sister Vivian Mitten of Red Deer, AB; her niece Amy Mitten and her children of Calgary; her brother-in-law Verne (Nellie) McGowan of Gladstone, MB and their children; Yvonne (Robert) Ferguson of Neepawa, MB; and Gerald (Lee) McGowan of Gladstone, MB and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd McGowan on April 18, 1990; her brother-in-law Bert Mitten and her nephew Rodney Mitten.
A gathering to remember Lorraine will be held at the Ranchmen’s Club (710 – 13th Avenue S.W.) on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at 2:00 P.M.
