Obituary of Doreen Margaret Gillespie
Doreen Margaret Gillespie (nee White), beloved wife of Mr. Gordon Gillespie of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 17, 2004 at the age of 82 years.
Doreen was born on November 13, 1921 in Winnipeg, MB. After graduating from high school in Winnipeg, Doreen moved to Hamilton, ON. She also lived in Kingston, ON, Halifax, NS, Dartmouth, NS, Spryfield, NS, Nictaux, NS, and Inkerman, ON before moving to Calgary. She married her beloved Gordon on December 25, 1943. Doreen served her country in the RCAF (WD) from 1942 to 1944 in Torbay, NF. Following the war she was employed in music sales and later as a partner at Powerhouse Co. Ltd. in Nictaux, NS. She loved dogs and working on crossword puzzles and was also very involved with the I.O.D.E. and The Order of The Eastern Star.
Besides her beloved husband Gordon, Doreen is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Daryl and Kari Gillespie of Calgary; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Richard Cottingham of Ottawa, ON; and two grandchildren, Andrew and Katie. She was predeceased by a son Andrew, her mother Janet, brother Reginald, and step-father Alf Dixon.
