Obituary of Ann Ries
Ann Mary Ries, of Calgary, formerly of Cluny, AB., passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Sunday, May 30, 2004 at the age of 92 years.
Ann was born June 30, 1911 in Cluny where she was raised and attended school. She received her teacher’s certificate from Normal School in Calgary and taught in numerous rural schools throughout southern Alberta. She returned to Cluny and on July 5, 1943 married Pete Ries. They were very active in the community, the church and raising their family. In 1968 they sold their farm and moved to Calgary. Ann continued to be very involved with the church through the CWL, scripture group and singing in the choir. Ann is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Dorn and Susan Ries of Calgary; four daughters and sons-in-law Rosemarie and Leo Palmiere of Calgary, Virginia and Keith Ortman of Airdrie, Colleen and Bob Marquardt of Calgary, Anne and Jack Camroux of Calgary; fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Pete in 1972, her parents, two brothers and her sister.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North), on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 7:00 P.M.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.) on Thursday, June 3, 2004 at 11:00 A.M.
