Obituary of Edward Benner
Edward Benner, beloved husband of Helen of Calgary, passed away quietly and with dignity with his family at his side at the Foothills Medical Centre on Thursday, May 20, 2004 at the age of 86 years.
Ed was born, educated and worked in Calgary all his life – with a career at the C.P.R. which spanned thirty-eight years. Edward was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by his family and all those whose lives he touched. He had great strength of character and knowing him was a gift that we will keep in our hearts forever. At the young age of eighty-six, Ed was an active volunteer at the Seniors of Confederation Park. He walked every day and was an avid bowler and curler. Ed was proud of his association with the Bridgeland Credit Union as a director for thirty-five years. He loved his family more than anyone could ever know, as they did him. Edward is survived by his wife and soul mate of sixty-two years Helen; children, Shirley (Jim), Bruce (Dawn) and Shelley (Dave); grandchildren, Matthew, Jennifer (Kevan), Jocelynn, Jeff, Michelle, MacKenzie, Kennedy, Jodi (Chris) and Jill; and great-grandchildren, Luke and Eric. He is also survived by his sister Frieda (Rob) and aunt Julie Benner. He was predeceased by his brother Elmer Benner.
