Obituary of Donald George IRWIN

November 16, 1922 – September 10, 2017 With great sadness, the Irwin Family announces the passing of their beloved father, Donald George Irwin; a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. As a WWII veteran, Don served his country honorably and retired from the service as a Pilot Officer. He was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, France and Germany Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Overseas Service and Bomber Command Bars, Defense Medal, and the French Croix de Guerre. Don is survived by his children Donald (Donna), Sandra, Sandy, Shauna (Jim), Deanna (Steve); grandchildren Don, Cristopher, Devon, Scott, Alexandra, Dallas, Robin, Megan, Donelle, Levi, Liam, Cameron, Dylan, Geneva, JR, Stephen, Coltanna, Tyler, Shaundra, Shyla, MacGregor, Delaney, and Mhairi; and great-grandchildren Tayla, Evan, Brody, Issac, Brynn Rose, Lillian, Brooklyn, Emma Lee, Charlotte, Jack, Charlie, Isobel, Mac, Norie, and Corbyn. Don is predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Marie; and by his eldest daughter Donna. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all of the staff, caregivers, nurses, and aids who tended to dad with such respect, dignity, and compassion throughout his time at Colonel Belcher Seniors Residence. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Following the service, relatives and friends are invited to meet at the residence of Shauna & Jim Bruvall (1067 Lake Placid Drive S.E.).
