Obituary of Evelyn Soares

Evelyn (Ev) Anne Soares of Calgary passed away at Foothills Medical Centre on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at the age of 53 years. Evie was born on February 13, 1951 in Olds, AB, the third child of Kathleen and Stanley Teather. Evie was raised and educated in Sundre, AB, then obtained an interior design and drafting degree in Calgary. Evie celebrated her birthday in 1972 with the birth of Desiree Ann and continued employment in the interior design field. Special projects in her interior design involved Electric Avenue in Calgary, The Rimrock Hotel in Banff, to finally, the design of their classic family home in Calgary. Evie greatly admired the architectural work of Frank Lloyd Wright. In 1979, she met her beloved husband Adam (Adao) and they soon began a lifetime commitment. With Adam as the carpenter and Ev as the designer, they worked as a team in home building in Calgary. From 1984 Ev pursued another career in the retail gas industry and enjoyed meeting so many young people. Her final career shift was in October 2001 when she joined the Shell Canada Training Department as District Manager for Western Canada. Evie’s work ethic and commitment to others is unmatched. Evie’s special gift was her wonderful smile, her unique genuineness and her love of family and fine BMWs. Besides her loving husband, daughter and son-in-law Steve, Ev is survived by her mother Kathleen Mary Teather; brother Ernest (Ernie) Teather; sisters, Dodie (Alex) Whiteside, and Deanie (Bill) Orr; and daughters, Cindy and Kaylin; sister-in-law, Cao (Lorrie) Soares and their children, Manuel and Jaqueline McAllister; nephew Darran (Anne) Teather and his boys Josh and Jackson; and numerous other relatives and close friends. Funeral Service will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church (4747 – 30th Street S.E.) today, May 5, 2004 at 12:45 P.M.
