Obituary of Eddie Yee

Eddie Ying Git Yee of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at the age of 75 years. Eddie was born in Hoiping, China on January 6, 1929. After growing up in Hoiping and Shanghai, Eddie set sail and arrived in Canada in 1956. He completed his education in Saskatchewan and began a career with the Department of Highways as a Government Surveyor. With his dedicated wife, Eddie purchased, ran and progressively expanded a successful grocery store business for twenty-eight years. After his retirement, Eddie moved to Calgary in 1998 to be closer to his family. At the Kerby Centre, where he was a regular patron, Eddie made many new friends through ballroom dancing, an interest that he pursued with great dedication and passion to the very end. He was a highly accomplished dancer and regularly acted as Teacher Assistant to fellow students. Eddie is survived by his brother Don of Victoria; his four children, Archie, Douglas (Solina), Richard and Cynthia (Roland); and his three grandchildren, Graydon, Ciana and Justin, all of Calgary. Eddie was loved by many and a special man to those who came to know him; he will be sadly missed by all.
