Obituary of Luigi Pepe

Luigi Pepe, beloved husband of Serafina, passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Friday, April 9, 2004 , at the age of 84 years. Luigi was born in Teramo, Abbruzzi, Italy in 1919, and immigrated to Canada in 1952 and settling in Calgary a few years later. Luigi was employed for over twenty-five years by the CPR until his retirement in 1982 working at the Ogden Shop. He served in the Italian army for almost six years. Luigi was the happiest at big family gatherings, surrounded by all of his grandchildren, eating Italian food and drinking his homemade wine. Besides his loving wife, Luigi will be missed by his children Vince (Sherill) Pepe, Rosa (Benny) Fishman, Maria Hamilton (Steve), Carlo (Jenny) Pepe, Lydia (Colin) Sloan, Brian (Suzie) Pepe; his thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Luigi is also survived by a sister Domenica DiGirolamo of Calgary, and many family relatives in Italy. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North), on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827 – 24th Street S.W.) on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
