Obituary of Melvin John Soloway

On Saturday, April 3, 2004 the world lost a great man, Mel Soloway, much loved best friend and soulmate of Trudy Soloway of forty-three years, passed away at the age of 62 years. Mel was President of Calgary Fasteners & Tools which he founded in 1979, as well as The Fastener Group, which includes thirteen branches across Western Canada. He always put his family first. Mel was so proud of each and every one of them. His passion for golf earned him the love and respect of many friends at Willow Park Golf & Country Club. This great man touched the lives of so many people. His loss has left a hole in our hearts. The family would like to thank Rod McLeod for his determination and compassion. Mel will be dearly missed by his daughter Melanie of Calgary; son Rod (Sharon) of DeWinton; grandchildren, Braydon Wheeler and Taryn Soloway; sister Mary Jane (Don) Strate of High River; brother Rony Soloway of Trochu; sister-in-law Fran Soloway of Trochu; sister-in-law Cindy Ward of Black Diamond; brother-in-law Leroy Mason of Calgary; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Also left to mourn his loss are his dearest friends, Arnold Axelson, Shirley Setzer, Berna and Lyal Shoemaker, and his beloved business partners.
