Obituary of Elizabeth Elser

Elizabeth (Kris) Elser of Calgary, beloved friend, wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the Agape on Sunday, April 4, 2004 at the age of 72 years. Many lives were touched by this remarkable woman. The depth of her kindness, generosity, humour, openness and honesty forged many warm and lasting personal connections. Kris made time for all her hobbies and pleasures including entertaining at home, golfing, traveling, reading, cross-stitching and quilting. Her culinary skills were also superb and receiving a recipe from Kris was truly considered a treasure. Born Elizabeth Krys on May 19, 1931 in Derwent, AB, she and her family moved to Edmonton in 1936. She met William (Bill) Elser in 1952 and they married on September 15, 1953. After several moves and four children, Bill and Kris landed in Calgary in 1963, had two more sons and created an endearing and cozy home for over forty years. Kris is survived by her husband Bill, her six sons (and their spouses), Derek (Jane) of Fort McMurray, Mitchell (Rhonda) of Calgary, Paul (Kelly) of Lethbridge, Gordon (Janine) of Ottawa, Thomas (Christiane) of Calgary and James (Kim) of Kelowna. She is also survived by her seventeen grandchildren Katie, Robert, Stacey, Matthew, Andrea, Erin, Christopher, Ryley, Alexa, Candice, Damara, Emily, Jesse, Mathias, Aaron, Liam and Juliana; her brother Henry Krys; and the many true and wonderful friends, acquaintances, relatives and extended family members. Kris will be dearly missed by all. She was predeceased by her brother Marshall Krys; her half-sisters Anne Sobon, Sophie Keller and Mary Farris; and her cousin Jean Sen.
