Obituary of Edward James Baugh
Edward James (Ed) Baugh of Calgary passed away at Bowview Manor on Friday, March 19, 2004 at the age of 86 years.
Ed was born November 29, 1917 on the family farm where he grew up near Clive, AB. In 1939 Ed enlisted into the Canadian Armed Forces as an Artilleryman and completed his service as a Bombardier. Ed met his wife Edna in Calgary and they were married on July 12, 1941 at the Manse, First Baptist Church. Ed started out as a Motorman on street cars with Calgary Transit and later drove buses, retiring after thirty-three years of service on December 24, 1975 with Badge No. 2. He was very active in Altadore Baptist Church, and a faithful member for almost fifty years. Ed considered his family to be one of his greatest blessings.
Ed is remembered by two sons and daughters-in-law and two daughters and sons-in-law, Terry and Carolyn Baugh of Nelson BC, Pat and Larry Butterton of Apex, NC, Norman and Kathy Baugh of New Westminster, BC, and Maureen and Blair Farish of Cranbrook, BC; ten grandchildren, Shannon (Brad), Brenda (Cath), Lara (Bruce), Mark, Ryan (Megan), Dan, Jen (Mike), David, Nathan and Stephen; and four great-grandchildren, Aimee, Nicole, Stephanie and Zachary. He is also survived by a sister, Rose Osguthorpe; son-in-law Gary Lawrence; as well as numerous extended family. Ed was predeceased by his wife, Edna in 1999, three brothers, three sisters and son-in-law Chris De Witt.
A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held at Altadore Baptist Church (4304 – 16th Street S.W.) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. John Prociuk officiating.
