Obituary of Alfred McCarthy

Alfred “Mick” Ernest McCarthy of Calgary passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre on Saturday, March 13, 2004 at the age of 79 years. Mick was born in Toronto, ON on February 19, 1925 and served in the RCAF in World War II as an air gunner with the Seventy-Eighth Sqdn. RAF, completing thirty missions. He returned in 1945 and was discharged as a Pilot Officer. He re-enlisted in the RCAF in 1946 as a photographer, and served until 1971. Mick then worked for the Calgary Remand Centre, retiring in the early eighties. He enjoyed golf, photography, crossword puzzles and documentaries. Mick is survived by his children, James and Joann McCarthy, Kim McCarthy, Robert and Shauna McCarthy and Michael and Susan McCarthy; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; one brother and two sisters. He will be sadly missed by Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Ingram and long-time friend Marilyn Glerum. Mick was predeceased by his wife and parents. To forward condolences go to www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
