Obituary of Stanley John Pollock
Stanley J. (Grampa) Pollock of Calgary passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at the age of 94 years.
Stan was born on April 2, 1909 in Winnipeg, MB where he began employment with CN Rail. His career brought him to Drumheller, AB, and later to Edmonton, where he retired as an Engineer after forty-eight years of service. Stan was an active member of the Railway Pensioners Association of Alberta and the Royal Canadian Legion Bowness Branch #238. He served with the Winnipeg Grenadiers. He loved the violin, and had a soft spot for animals – especially dogs. Over the years he was also known to have nursed injured birds back to health.
Stan is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Gladys and Ronald; two granddaughters, Dianne and Susan; a grandson Brian; and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Henrietta, and four sisters.
