Obituary of William Scott

William Scott passed away peacefully in the presence of his devoted family on Sunday, March 7, 2004. He was born in Bankhead in Banff National Park and spent his life in the mountains of the Bow Valley which is where his spirit will rest. A humble man, he requested no Funeral Service. A Memorial Service will be arranged by the family at a later date. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Nature Conservancy, 400 – 110 Eglington Avenue West, Toronto, ON M4R 1A3. Dad/Grandpa: Our lives were immeasurably shaped by your integrity, generosity of thought, time and deed, wisdom, guidance, kindness, grace, and good humour. You were our model, our touchstone, our teacher, our protector, and truly one of the “good guys” of this world – a champion of the less fortunate, the environment and the cause of peace and harmony. That others have chosen to model their lives after your beliefs and principles is the greatest compliment to your character. You were a man with great heart and soul and you departed from this life loved, honoured and respected by your family members, who are thankful we had such a long journey with you. We will try to remember your teachings including, “As the world becomes smaller so we as its inhabitants must get bigger – bigger in spirit, tolerance, compassion, and action” and “Appreciate and value everything and everyone’s place in the grand scheme of things.” Thank you for the rich and beautiful memories. We release you to the comforting embrace of those who went before you – may your spirit light the way for the rest of us. We can’t believe the world should go on without you but you will be here in a special place in our hearts. – Your daughters Joy Johnson and Norma Jensen and their families.
