Obituary of Gladys Bernice Barak
It is with great sadness that we announce that Gladys Bernice Barak, beloved wife of Slavko Barak of Calgary, left us to join our heavenly Father after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at the age of 67 years.
Gladys was born on September 23, 1936 in Medicine Hat, AB. She spent almost twenty years of her life working for Cardinal Coach Lines. Prior to that she devoted her time to raising her son. She had a fondness of plants and flowers and spent much of her free time in her garden. Besides her loving husband Slavko (Louie) and son Michael, Gladys is survived by her sisters, Dolores (Johnny) Basetto and Edna (Johnny) Curkan, all of Calgary; brother Len (Kay) Yanke of Medicine Hat, AB; step-brothers, Tony Yanke of Lethbridge, AB and Ernie Yanke of Medicine Hat, AB; step-sister Betty Ann Reiman of Lethbridge, AB; cousin Anton (Ines) Medvedic of Calgary; and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and relatives in Croatia. She was predeceased by her father Andrew Yanke in 1973 and mother Anna Stevenson in 1976.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North), on Sunday, March 14, 2004 at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church (7624 – 39th Avenue N.W.) on Monday, March 15, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Alfredo Pereira, Presider.
