Obituary of Betty Shapiro

Betty Shapiro of Calgary, beloved wife of the late Harry Shapiro, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at the age of 70 years. Betty was a wonderful, caring, and devoted daughter to her parents Mary and Louis Goldstein. Betty was also the centre of her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. Their love for her is immeasurable. She always put her children before anything else and was a constant source of strength to them all. After losing her husband at a young age, Betty raised her three children by herself and is directly responsible for every success they have achieved in life. One of the most generous and good-hearted people, Betty is dearly loved by everyone who knew her. Betty was a meticulous homemaker and took pride in everything she did. She was a gentle person and loved animals, especially her beloved dog, Tuffy. Betty was relied upon by many for her wisdom, intelligence and selflessness. A devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and mother-in-law, Betty will remain in the hearts of her family and everyone whose lives she touched forever. She was a pillar of strength to them all and will be sorely missed. Betty is survived by a son, Randy Shapiro of Calgary; two daughters, Shauna Shapiro (David) Jackson and Cara Shapiro, both of Los Angeles; as well as two grandchildren, Drew and Brandon Jackson. She is also survived by her sisters, twins Esther Brody of Calgary and Cecille (Aaron) Shtabsky of Phoenix. Betty was predeceased by her husband Harry Shapiro on February 1, 1981, and her parents, Mary Asper Goldstein on May 31, 1961 and Louis Goldstein on March 16, 1971.
