Condolences
Dear Joanne, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Jim was a great guy. Although we’ve not seen each other for many years, I think of you both often, and fondly. I remember your wedding like it was yesterday. And a delicious spaghetti dinner than Jim whipped up for us late one night, in your first apartment. Take good care of yourself. Love, Marianne Love (Jepson/Sneddon).
So sorry to hear about Jim. Have known him for years through the promotional products industry. Seeing him at Trade Shows was always a pleasure, so sorry he had to suffer. He has touched many lives with his bubbly personality and smile, truly a great guy! Will miss him in the promo industry.
Joanne we are so sorry to hear of the passing of Jimmy.
We have fond memories of Jim at work and at play. We especially remember Christmas Eve with our families and “Santa” Jim!
Jimmy always made everyone’s day a little brighter.
He was one of the good ones and will be truly missed by all.
I had the pleasure of knowing Jim when he first joined Shell way back when. He was a very keen and solid contributor to Shell throughout his career and was a pleasure to all of us who had the privledge of working with him. Best wishes for strength to Jim’s family and close friends. He will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Jim through working with him. He was such a great man. I will miss him greatly. Big hugs to all of your family.
We send our deepest condolences to Joanne and the whole family. Jim was such a friendly man, making everyone feel welcome. Nathan, in particular, has fond memories of how kind Jim was and how he made Nathan feel a part of things when he first moved to Canada! Our thoughts are with you all during this sad time.
To the Mitchell family, I feel for your loss. I will always remember watching my first movie at the Mitchell house. Jim wanted the movie theatre experience at home, and he got it. We watched the Patriot, I’ll never forget it. I’ll miss him.
To the Mitchell family; we were privileged to have had the opportunity to have Jim taking care of our account. We always enjoyed the visits & phone calls. Jim was always such a pleasure to deal with. We are deeply saddened for losing a great friend & a remarkable human being. God Bless.
I’ve known Jim since I started in this industry in 1999. He always brought a smile to my face. My condolences to his family. He will be missed.
The news of Jim’s passing was just too sad for words. I always thought Jim was one of the most pleasant people I had ever met. I never heard him complain about anything – even when his health was poor and he was in and out of hospital over the years, he still soldiered on. I enjoyed working along side Jim and joking with him while we participated in the many industry trade shows over the years. He was such an easy going guy. I’m sure going to miss him & I’m sure I will never forget him.
To the entire Mitchell family,
Please accept our deepest condolences for your family’s loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers, sending you love and strength
I was saddened to learn of Jim’s passing. He has put on a brave face for many years and continued to work hard to help us out as distributors in this industry. I remember Jim first joining the industry and one of my most favourite memories was my first luncheon with him and of course it was at a sushi restaurant! I have always credited (or blamed) him for my love of sushi. I had initially told him I didn’t like it and he said he could change my mind…. and he did. We had many more sushi lunches after that day. My condolences to his family and his work family at BIC. He will be sorely missed in this industry. Rest in Peace Jim.

To the Mitchell Family, my condolences to all of you. I will always remember Jim’s big smiles and sense of humor. I work with him on a few projects with customers and he was always of good advise too. We will miss him very much.
I’ve known Jim for 15 years ever since he was in the promo industry. It broke my heart to hear of his passing. He was one of the nicest, kindest people I had ever known. When I was attacked by a Great Dane 3 years ago, he took the time out of his day to bring me sushi (my favorite food) and stayed all afternoon. We had a lovely visit.
Jim will be greatly missed by everyone and anyone whose lives he touched. My deepest condolences to you and your family during this difficult time.
Dear Diana,
We wish you and Joanne and your entire family our sympathy for your loss. Ken and I really enjoyed talking with Jim at your Birthday Party, about his time with the Canadian Forces militia, and about his other interests. What a wonderful party and your parents were the perfect hosts. We could see the love that your family had for each other, and I know that you all have wonderful memories of a true gentleman. We are thinking of him and all of you.
Dear Joanne & family,
My sincere condolences to you dear Joanne and all of you, children & grand-ones too. Though I never met your dear Jim or all your family, I did go to school in Sask with a bunch of Mitchells. However we did not establish a connection to my Mitchell school friends in southern Sask ( Val Marie). From the tributes I just read, they were fun loving people like your Jim.. I have missed you at UCMC Joanne, but will be there
Wed the 23rd.
I do not know if I will be able to attend this Sat but I certainly will be there in my thoughts and prayers for you and family.

Grandpa, also known as grumpy, we really miss, so sad you had to leave so soon. May you’re soul rest in perfect peace. We are sure you’re resting at the bosom of the Lord. May the peace of God that passes all understanding, remain and comfort the family you left behind. You’re kind gesture will forever be remembered. Adieu.
From Gord and Carol Radcliff, Clearwater B.C.
Thank you Jim and Joanne for being a part of our lives. There are many cherished moments with Jim. I first met him at Central Junior High School in Victoria, in 1968. We were both in Grade 10. That is where we started a long and storied love of field hockey together. As we grew older we played at Victoria High School and on our Red Barons Men’s Field Hockey Team and on many Rep Teams in Victoria. In 1972 I had to good fortune to practice with Jim one night out on the pitch. I had just bought a new field hockey stick. As I swung to hit the ball, Jim was there defending and jumped up in front of me, came down and landed on my new stick. Broken completely in half I picked it up and said to Jim, “You just broke by new stick”. Jim gave me a wink and said with a smile, ” I was just getting out of the way”. I bought a new stick which must have been the one as it brought home the bronze medal from the Califoria Cup a few weeks later.
Jim you were a great friend, mentor and you and Joanne were inspirational as a couple. To this day Carol and I have always looked up to you both for strength. That night we practiced field hockey together on September 14, 1972 changed my life forever. As that was the night I met my one and only too. Thank you Jim and thank you Joanne. From our family to yours, may the force be with you. And we will be sleigh-belling riding together when we meet again.
I was deeply hurt and saddened hearing this news today. Jim was an amazing man both personally and professionally and was a great support in my business as well as reaching out to me and visiting me with sushi lunch after my injury. I will miss you, our sushi lunches, your stories, your warmth and your smile. Thank you for your kindness, thoughtfulness and the extra mile you would go to support my clients. You will be missed!
Joanne & Family
Jim was such a kind soul, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Dear Joanne, Gavin & family.
What a big loss! My connection with Jim through his involvement in the Oakridge Community hockey programs, was special. He inspired us all by always being ready, able & willing to do whatever was needed to be done to support & facilitate “The Team”.
His genuine joy for Life, forged a life-long bond, the first time we met. I believe that all who knew Jim, are better for it & that we will carry his joy filled, can do spirit in our hearts for as long as we live.
He leaves a beautiful legacy through his family, friends, colleagues & all who benefitted from his efforts.
My son Jordan & I offer our sincere condolences, & we ask that God and all of us who knew Jim, be a source of comfort to each one of you, now & in the future.
I was so saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. Jim has been calling on our company for many years and he really became part of our work family. Always so professional, kind and generous I have always considered him to be one of the best in the industry. He really did go above and beyond to make his clients happy and always had a great story to tell! It was clear he loved his family very much and I know they will miss him immensely. Rest in peace Jim you will be missed by us all.
Nos condoléances à ta famille Dave. All love from the Dinhs. xx
Joanne, so sad to hear about Jim. I have so many wonderful memories from our school days, filed hockey and the evenings we spent together. My prayers go out for you and the family and this time of sadness. May God watch over you all and give you strength and peace at this time.

Deepest sympathies from all of us at Storm Front Promotions. Jim was always eager to assist us with all of our programs. He always had a story to tell which we appreciated hearing. He will be greatly missed. Prayers to the family and god bless.
To the Mitchell Family, my condolences to you all. Jim was not only a co-worked but a very dear friend. We first met in January of 2001 as we both got hired at the same time. We never looked back and our friendship became stronger and stronger. I will miss our weekly Friday afternoon phone calls talking about work and family. As he ended the conversation, he would leave off saying “well young man you have a great weekend”.
“What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us. With this said I will add an extra candle on my birthday every year for you Jim.
rest in Peace my dear friend.
Ralph Dei Tigli
My deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the Mitchell and extended families. I had the privilege of working with Jim at Spector and Co. for many years and recall fondly many a long conversation going North or South between Edmonton and Calgary. So many great things have been said already about Jim, so I would just like his family to know that he had a simple yet profound influence in my life. I recall so clearly a conversation when I was doubting having the time and commitment to coach my son in minor hockey. In great part due to his advice and compelling argument, I went on to coach minor hockey for over 12 years, and that experience I can consider one of the top 5 in my life so far. All thanks to some simple advice from Jim. Thanks big buy and rest in peace.
We will miss Jim on our team he always had a story for us on our Friday calls. His customers always appreciated how he would always go the extra mile for them no matter how ill he was. Jim always knew where to get the best Sushi in town and never stopped talking about how proud he was of his family. Thank you Joanne for taking such good care of Jim and for sharing such a wonderful man with all of us at BIC. His legacy will live on forever!
When Jim would answer the phone he would say “Greetings earthlings” Now he is surely saying that from Heaven!
To the whole Mitchell Clan, we offer our most heartfelt condolences and love. Thank you to all of you who opened your home to our little family for birthdays, dinners and of course the annual Xmas Eve party. We will always think of Jim (Grumpy) as a happy & cheerful, warm and welcoming man. Love, Laura, Chuck, Lucia and Rayna Guedo.
Jim was a good friend and a valued peer within our Industry always ready to help and secure business!
we will miss him!
Our Condolences to his family and friends!
I was saddened to hear about Jim’s passing. I worked with him for years now at BIC. He was always smiling, laughing and generous of spirit and his attention. What an amazing example of really living life to its fullest.
My sincere condolences to his wife and family…may he rest in peace….God bless!
Please accept my sincere condolences on Jim’s passing. He was a great guy and very much appreciated at Norwood and BIC Graphic.
I only got to see Jim about once a year at our company sales meetings both with Norwood, and BIC Graphic, but I always enjoyed talking with him. In the years that he couldn’t make the sales meetings due to health, he was missed.
I will always remember his smile, and kindness.
I was so so saddened to hear of Jim’s passing — I kept waiting for the news over the last many months that he was stronger and coming back to work. Jim was one of the nicest warmest sweetest people i have known and his family and friends and anyone who had the pleasure of his company was blessed. You will be greatly missed Jim!!
Jim and I met while we were still young guns at Victoria high school,Victoria BC. We
played football together. We didn’t last long as our hearts were bigger than our bodies.
He met Joanne and instantly new she would be the love of his life. Although Calgary
kept us apart we never let that distance get between our friendship. It is so sad to hear of your friends passing so soon. Our sincere condolences. Gerry and Donna Caldwell.
May the peace which comes from the memories of love shared comfort you now and in the days ahead. I met Jim about 8 years ago when I traveled to Canada to assist at a Trade show. Shortly after, I joined the sales team and had the pleasure of seeing him at our Annual Sales Meetings. His sense of humor and zest for life were contagious. Jim will be greatly missed at BIC Graphic but will remain in our hearts and memories.
Jim was always a calm, steady voice in a sometimes very chaotic profession. It was always a pleasure being in his company and I enjoyed talking hockey with both him and Ralph. A great role model for us and we will miss him.
