Obituary of Nellie Carter
Nellie (Nell) Carter passed away at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre on Thursday, February 26, 2004 at the age of 88 years.
Nell was born and raised in Saskatoon, SK and married Edward Forrest Carter on January 4, 1939. In 1941 they moved to Brantford, ON where both of their children were born and where Mr. Carter continued his employment with Cockshutt Farm Equipment. In 1949, after Mr. Carter retired, they returned to Calgary where Nell has since resided. She was an active member of Group 8 of Riverview United Church, volunteered for the Volunteer Bureau and for the Alberta Cancer Society, was an active member of the Glencoe Club since 1951, where she enthusiastically participated in bridge, mixed curling and bowling. Also, for many years Mrs. Carter enjoyed oil and water painting and was an avid reader.
Nell is remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Mary; son-in-law Kevin Baker and his wife Cathy; five grandchildren, Bryan (Wanda) Carter, Geoff (Tara) Carter, Cameron (Nicole) Baker, Jordi (David) Rowe, and Arden Baker; as well as two great-grandchildren, Ryan Baker and Benjamin Carter. She was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1960 and her daughter Lori Baker in 1996.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, March 5, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
