Obituary of Denis Joseph Walsh

Denis Joseph Walsh, beloved husband of Mrs. Susan Walsh of Calgary, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, February 25, 2004, as the result of a heart condition, at the age of 54 years. Denis was born in St. John’s, NF on October 19, 1949. He moved to Toronto as a young man, where he apprenticed as a Sheet Metal Worker. It was here that he met his soon-to-be wife, Susan. In 1976, they moved their family to Calgary. Denis worked as a Sheet Metal Worker, and later became a Business Agent for the Local 8 Sheet Metal Union. He would later change careers becoming a Bus Driver for Calgary Transit. Over the past twenty-four years Denis was an avid volunteer, and was very active in the community. He was the current President of the Falconridge/Castleridge Community Association. Denis enjoyed dedicating his life to the community, be it as a Cub leader, basketball coach or in his career. However, Denis’ greatest love was his family. Besides his loving wife Susan, Denis is remembered by two daughters, Kim Morgan and Lisa (Kyle) Brost; a son Terence; and five grandchildren, Amber, Alyssa, Tyler, Justin, and Maxine. He is also survived by his mother Rose Walsh of Torbay, NF; five sisters; five brothers; and by numerous nieces and nephews residing in both Alberta and Newfoundland. Denis was predeceased by his father Terence.
