Obituary of Kenneth Michael Wilkie
Kenneth (Ken) Michael Wilkie, beloved husband of Terry of Calgary, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday, February 23, 2004 at the age of 54 years. He was taken from us far too young and will be forever loved and missed.
Besides his loving wife Terry whom he lovingly called “Dear” and his six and a half year old daughter Taryn whom he called “Babe”, Ken is survived by three daughters, Jackie (Quentin) Goetz, Trisha (Mike) Kenyon, Michelle Wilkie (Derek); his first grandchild, newborn Andrew Michael all of Calgary; and his mother Doreen Wilkie (Harry) of Boyle AB. He is also survived by three brothers, Dennis of Edmonton, Dave of Vancouver and Ed (Colleen) of Calgary; two sisters, Joyce (Doug) Blagg of Albuquerque, NM and Jan (Doug) Fraser of Carmangay, AB; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his father Albert and his brother Doug.
Ken was born on February 28, 1949 in Edmonton. Ken was a gentle, kind caring and giving man. He cherished his family and was the glue that kept the family together. Ken served on the Board of Governors for CGA Alberta from 1995-1998 and was recognized as a valuable member. He most recently served as Treasurer for the Hillhurst-Sunnyside Community Association Board. He volunteered at the Hillhurst Community School where his daughter attends. He loved his family, cherished his mother, was a gourmet chef, tended his rose garden, enjoyed crosswords and games, camping, cycling with his family, and loved walking in the woods. He was a carpenter, electrician and a renovator as well as a sportsman who enjoyed curling, volleyball and baseball. Ken’s proudest achievements were his four beautiful daughters and being a stay-at-home dad for his youngest daughter Taryn.
