Obituary of Margaret Elizabeth Stringer
Margaret Stringer, beloved wife of the late Andrew Stringer of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Beverly Care Centre Midnapore, Calgary on Thursday, February 19, 2004 at the age of 89 years.
Margaret was born in Brandon, MB on July 10, 1914. She married Andy on May 18, 1939, and followed him in his army career to numerous cities across Canada, always making a warm and loving home. Her family was very proud of Margaret’s twenty year career as a manager of many saleswomen in the Beauty Counselor Company. She was also an excellent seamstress and needleworker, making most of her daughters’ clothes in their younger years and creating many petit-point and needlepoint works. Margaret was a member of the United Church of Canada and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her daughters and sons-in-law, Naida and Ken Faircloth of Calgary and Sharyn and Neil Cowley of the U.S.A.; as well as six grandchildren; Andrew Gimby, Amanda Cowley, Anthea (Vince) Fellone, Jen (John Nunn) Faircloth, Chris Faircloth, and Pam Faircloth; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Hugh (Marge) McKnight and Don (Bunny) McKnight; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shelagh (Don) Preston, Val (Bob) Stendal; sisters, Naida Gordon and Ruth MacPherson, and sister-in-law Mabel McKnight. Sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Blanche and Mickey Reinberger, Verna and Lou Morin, Vera and Norm Gellert, and Fern and Jack Lane will also fondly remember her. Margaret was predeceased by her brothers Bob and Colin, sister Jean Greig, brothers-in-law Bob Gordon, Rae MacPherson and Ed Greig.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, February 23, 2004 at 10:30 A.M..
