Obituary of Gerald Richard Coughlin

Gerald Richard Coughlin, beloved husband of Jean Coughlin of Calgary, passed away at the Colonel Belcher Hospital on Monday, February 9, 2004 at the age of 77 years. Gerry was born in Nanton and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy and on July 1, 1950 he married Jean Coolen. Gerry was employed with Royalite and Gulf Oil until his retirement in 1986. He had a passion for and was a lifetime volunteer with the Calgary Stampede Promotions Committee. Besides his loving wife, Gerry is survived by his son Danny; two daughters Shannon Donaldson and Colleen Gray; six grandchildren, Paige and Brooke Coughlin, Lindsay and Courtnay Donaldson, Stephanie and Kelsey Gray; and two aunts, Katherine Dean and Frances Wood, all of Calgary; the Wood family and numerous cousins. Gerry was predeceased by his eldest son Stephen, daughter-in-law Janine and their children Callie and Erin in March 1998. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James’ Catholic Church (5504 – 20th Street S.W.) on Thursday, February 12, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. L. Michael Storey, Presider.
