Obituary of Andre Jean LeGuilloux

Andy LeGuilloux, loving husband of Margaret of Calgary, passed away peacefully the morning of Sunday, February 1, 2004, at the age of 84 years. Cherishing his memory are his children, Teresa Lebsack and husband Dan, Marie Sondergaard and husband Cam, Jim LeGuilloux and wife Sandi, and son and daughter Terry LeGuilloux and Marjy LeGuilloux. Grandpa will be missed by his thirteen grandchildren. Born in St. Brieux, SK in 1919, he was predeceased by brothers Louis, Peter, and Albert, and sisters Mary Hancock and Armande Herchak. Andy had a life-long involvement in aviation, from his teens in Saskatchewan when he bought his first airplane ride, to earning his pilots wings and Instructor’s rating in the RCAF. As a bush pilot he launched The Pas Airways, a charter operation in northern Manitoba. After moving to Calgary he met and married Margaret McCaffrey, his best friend and wife of fifty-two years. Andy and Marg were true partners and pioneers in his many aviation endeavours, including establishing the North American Air Training College to train pilots, founding “Canadian Wings” magazine which he published for fourteen years, owning and operating Air Age Distributors, and introducing Grumman light aircraft to Western Canada. To Andy, the most important part of his life was about helping others, be they family, friends, or strangers in need. He was active in the Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and Calgary ProLife. He quietly carried out many acts of charity, and was truly devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary, as a long-time and energetic member of the Marian Movement of Priests. Andy is remembered and loved by his family as always ready to make us laugh, always there to help, always kind. We are so thankful for his example of life and love. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.) on Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Inocencio C.
