Obituary of Eileen Florence Kirkby

Eileen Kirkby, beloved wife of George Tyson Kirkby for fifty-seven years, passed away at home on Thursday, January 22, 2004. She died at the age of 79 years after an eighteen-year battle with cancer. To the end, she was full of thanksgivings and surrounded by love. Eileen will be remembered for many years of faithful contribution to Pleasant Heights United Church, most notably nine years as Christian Education Director. Eileen, a native Calgarian, attended Western Canada High School and achieved excellence in elocution at a young age. Besides her husband Tyson, Eileen is survived by her three children, Darlene (Frans) Heynen, Brent (Lorie) Kirkby, and Blair (Ann) Kirkby; nine grandchildren, Craig, Robin, Blake, Dean, Clarke, David, Ben, Janna and Rebecca; and a sister Dorothy (Ed) Gregory. Celebration of Eileen’s Life will take place at Wild Rose United Church (1317 – 1st Street N.W.) on Monday, January 26, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Linda Hunter officiating.
