Obituary of Juan Abique Tarroja

Juan Abique (Johnny) Tarroja, beloved husband of Dolores V. Tarroja of Calgary, passed away peacefully with his family at his side, at the Carewest Sarcee on Saturday, January 17, 2004 at the age of 94 years. Johnny was born on July 2, 1909 in Dao, Antique, Philippines. He and Dolores were married on December 4, 1937 and they immigrated to London, ON in June of 1980 moving to Calgary in December 1989. Johnny attended St. Francis and St. Bernadette Catholic churches. One of his greatest achievements in life was sailing with an American from Manila, Philippines to New Jersey, USA. In his younger years he supervised the transportation of a sailboat from Southampton, England to Manila, Philippines. Johnny considered the vacation to Manila from September 2001 to February 2002 to be one of the best, as he was able to see all ten of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Johnny loved music and life and was always ready to help family, relatives and friends. His favourite song was Springtime in the Rockies and he always enjoyed ice cream, chocolate or desserts. Besides his loving wife, Dolores, Johnny is also survived by his children, Frances and Eric Lazo of Calgary, Juan Jr. and Corazon Tarroja of Makati, Philippines, Mariano and Cynthia Tarroja of Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines, Antonio, Maria Elena and Martin Tarroja of Calgary; ten grandchildren, Henandro, Lisandro, Leandro, Jumar, Joanna, Riya Jane, Randall John, Jeremiah, Joshua, Paul Samuel; three great-grandchildren, Louis John, Nicolai, Justine May. He was predeceased by three brothers, Pablo, Nicolas and Bernardo Alovera.
