Obituary
Obituary of Bunny Weiss
Our dear friend, wife and mother has passed away, but has not passed from our lives. She can be found in all of our smiles and in our hearts. We cherish every memory of a kind and generous person with a remarkable sense of humour, who loved to spend time with her family.
Bunny left this world on Thursday, January 15, 2004 and is waiting for us in heaven beside her parents Harold and Ada Arens, as well as other family and friends with whom she has been looking forward to being reunited. Bunny was born in Birch Hills, SK, and came at the age of three to live her life in Calgary.
Smiling up at her today are her husband of forty-five years, Donald Weiss, and their three children April Buconjic, Karen Emery and Patrick Weiss. By their sides are children-in-law Goran Buconjic, Richard Emery and Priscilla Weiss; grandchildren Maja and Dominik Buconjic, and Claire Emery; siblings Elaine Kobsar (Willy), Gerald Arens (Shirley), Diane Kelly (Boris), all of Calgary, and Gloria Gjesdal (Ken) of Courtney, BC; as well as many nephews and nieces. Bunny’s mother-in-law Violet Weiss of Edmonton, held a special place in her heart as a second mother, and she proudly called her sister-in-law Shirley Swaddle (Tom) of Calgary, her best friend.
One year ago, when Bunny was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and all hope seemed lost, divine intervention guided us to the capable and caring hands of Dr. Scott Dowden. Without his help, we would not have celebrated with Bunny one more Mother’s Day, a very special sixty-fifth birthday, trips to Big Fork, family dinners, time with friends, a wonderful family Christmas, and so many other special moments. Thank you, Dr. Dowden and nurses Carol and Wendy. Thank you, Tiffany, for the care and compassion you provided Bunny at home over the past year. Thank you, God, for answering prayers.
A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, January 23, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. Reception to follow at the Calgary Golf and Country Club.
