Obituary
Obituary of Douglas Gardiner Walls
It is in dying that we are born again to eternal life. Doug Walls is now in his heavenly home. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Father Lacombe Nursing Home on Monday, January 12, 2004 at the age of 85 years.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Audrey; son and daughter-in-law James and Sally; and two grandsons, Davis and Owen, all of Calgary. In Vancouver, he will be missed by his sister-in-law Marjorie Walls, his niece Donna (Ken) Middler and family; and nephew David (Jodie) Walls and family. Doug was predeceased by his daughter Patricia in 1992, and his brother Donald in Vancouver.
After graduating from St. George’s School in Vancouver, he enlisted in the Army and served overseas during the Second World War. Audrey and Doug were married in 1949 in Vancouver. His work took him to Edmonton, Prince George, and eventually Calgary, where he made his home for the last thirty-five years. He retired as District Sales Manager with Loomis Courier in 1979. Retirement gave him the time to pursue many of his interests. He was often bicycling, sailing, golfing, hiking, curling and cross-country skiing and was actively involved with the FLC Senior Group. Being an early morning man and punctual at that, he organized many outings for the group and always had a coffee ready for everyone. He was the quintessential gentleman, enjoyed and appreciated by all those who knew him. In 2001, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and was lovingly cared for by the staff at Father Lacombe Nursing Home. Our thanks and gratitude to them!
