Obituary of William James McDonald
Bill McDonald of Calgary passed away at the Father Lacombe Nursing Home on Monday, January 12, 2004 at the age of 90 years.
Bill was born on November 26, 1913 in Melville, SK. Bill started farming in La Fleche, SK in 1934 and married Emilie in 1936. In 1941 they moved to Agassiz, BC and were in the logging business, in 1946 they moved to Salmo, BC to farm and continue logging. He was one of the founders of the Salmo Co-op Services, and Executive of the Salmo Credit Union as well as a Foster Parent. Upon his retirement in 1995 Bill moved to Okotoks, AB. and then to Calgary in 1997. Bill was always helping neighbors and friends in need. He had a very loud and jovial laugh that filled the room at family and friendly gatherings.
Bill is survived by his loving children, a son and daughter-in-law, Godfrey and Sheila McDonald of Mississauga, ON, and two daughters and a son-in-law, Grace and Joe Conway of Calgary, AB and Margaret Toner of Prince Albert, SK. He will also be remembered by his ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two sisters and a brother-in-law Irene Betteridge of Courtenay, BC. and Nellie and Art Warner of Lumby, BC. Bill was predeceased by his wife Emilie on October 9, 2002.
Funeral Services will be held at Father Lacombe Nursing Home (332 146th Avenue S.E.) Calgary AB on Saturday, January 17, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Patrick Cramer officiating.
