Obituary of Henry Bennor

Henry “Smokey” Bennor, beloved husband of Gwen Bennor of Calgary passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at the age of 58 years. Smokey was born on June 26, 1945 in Honolulu. He was a member of the Honolulu Police Force, served in Vietnam with the USAF, and was a pilot for PWA. After coming to Calgary, Smokey worked in the Owl’s Nest Dining Room, the Pinebrook Golf and Country Club as Maitre’d, and the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede as Catering Supervisor. During the past six years, Henry volunteered for District 6, 8, and the G8 Summit with the Calgary Police Service. Even though he suffered with a lifelong disease of Sickle Cell Anemia, Smokey never lost his sense of humor, his love of music, aviation, and his taste for fine dining. The family wishes to thank the staff of Unit 37 at the Foothills Hospital for the special care given to Henry over the recent years as a result of kidney disease. Smokey will be deeply missed by Gwen, his wife of 26 years, and his children, Sharmaine Bennor (Curtis Cameron), Shannon Bennor, Marc Bennor of Honolulu and Shantelle Kragh of Miami. He was predeceased by his parents, Edell and Henry, and his son Nathan. Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.), on Monday, January 12, 2004 at 2:30 P.M.
