Obituary of Cyril Stackhouse
Keith Stackhouse passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 after a brief battle with cancer.
Keith was born and raised in Guernsey, SK. Immediately after graduating from high school he joined the RCAF and stayed in service until the end of WW II. Upon discharge he entered the University of Saskatchewan, graduating in 1948 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. The next two years were spent in the Okanagan until the oil boom offered new job opportunities in Calgary, where the family settled in 1950. An ardent curler, Keith played in, and won, many bonspiels in the 1950’s and early 1960’s, and was also well known for many years as a draw master, notably for the Oilmen’s and the Southern Alberta Men’s and Ladies’ bonspiels. After retirement in 1982 he was an active partner in The King’s Corner Christian Bookstore until 1996.
Keith is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Evelyn, and by his three children and their spouses, Diane and Jim Adams, Donna Mae and Allyn Humber and Darryl and Laurie Stackhouse, all of Calgary; and by seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Keith will be missed by his family and friends, but rather than mourn his death we will gratefully remember the many good years and happy memories we shared with him.
