Obituary of Norman MacLeod Enman

Norman MacLeod Enman passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2003 after a lengthy illness. Norman was born and raised in Winnipeg but spent a lot of time in the Qu’Appelle Valley, Saskatchewan, the birth place of his mother’s pioneer family. As the son of a railway official, he began his working career as an apprentice in the Winnipeg shops of the CPR. After his marriage, he rapidly progressed to the position of locomotive foreman in Red Deer and Fort MacLeod. From there, he joined a railway supply company in Winnipeg and later Toronto as a senior manager. After a fulfilling career, he and his wife Ruth (Laycock) took early retirement to the West Coast. Upon her death, Norman moved to Calgary, where he and his second wife Patricia (McKinnon) lived for twenty years. Norman enjoyed golfing, gardening, cribbage, and his winter times in the sunny southern USA. Besides his wife Pat, Norman is survived by his two daughters Carol (Harry) Kay of Abbotsford, BC, and Sandy (Gord) Thompson of Dundalk, ON; two stepchildren, Donald (Joanne) Flynn and Katherine (Graham) Toope and their children; four grandchildren, Darren (Nancy) Seeley and Heather (Rob) Seeley of Vancouver, BC, and Andrew and Edward Thompson of Dundalk, ON. He is also survived by his sister Margaret and brother-in-law Lloyd Rodway; nephews, Barrie and Donald Enman of Winnipeg, MB; nieces, Janice Dantzer, Catherine Rodway, and Megan Rodway, all of Calgary. Norman was predeceased by his grandson Al Thompson and his brother Roy Enman. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells, (2720 Centre Street North), on Friday, January 2, 2004 at 2:30 P.M. with the Rev.
