Obituary of Emil Fritsch

Emil (Em) Fritsch of Calgary, formerly of Ottawa, passed away from complications following aneurysm surgery, at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at the age of 77 years. Em was born on August 11, 1926 in Denbigh, ON. He joined the RCAF and while serving with them, attended Queen’s University where he graduated with a Civil Engineering degree in 1953. Em married Gerldeen Welch in 1958 who also served with the Air Force. Em’s career with the Armed Forces took him to several locations, with a special appreciation for the time he spent in Lahr, Germany. After retiring from the Forces in 1975, he worked for the Department of Public Works until he retired at the age of 65. Em resided in Ottawa from 1974 to October 2003, when he moved to Calgary. Em is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Kim Fritsch of Calgary and Karen Vanderwoude and Bruce Lacy of Guelph, ON. He is also survived by a sister Ora Brown of Kelowna, BC. Em was predeceased by his wife Gerldeen in December, 1996; two sisters, Vera Armstrong and Elsa McPhee; and a brother Ken Fritsch. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North), on Monday, December, 29 2003 at 3:30 P.M.
