Obituary of Kleon Erich Dietrich
Kleon Erich Dietrich, beloved husband of Joan Dietrich of Calgary, passed away suddenly at the Foothills Medical Centre on Monday, December 22, 2003 at the age of 68 years. The courageous choice to have another surgery resulted in an extended illness, resulting in his untimely death.
Kleon was born on August 16, 1935 on the homestead near MacNutt, SK where he was raised. He later attended Concordia College in Edmonton. Kleon married Joan Lewis on December 21, 1956. Over the years he enjoyed a successful career in sales. Forced into early retirement due to health issues he and Joan enjoyed their “Geritol gypsy days” travelling throughout the U.S.A. in their R.V. After settling in Calgary he enjoyed his independence motoring through the shops at Shawnessy on his scooter, he also thoroughly enjoyed his time spent at his grandchildren’s sporting events. Most of all his amazing courage and constant sense of humour kept us all going.
Kleon is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Joan; two daughters, Cheryl (Bill) Tomanik, and Deanne Dietrich; and a son Don (Jackie); his beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Brad, Eric, Tim (Carolyn), Nicholas, Amber, Jenny, Gage, and Erik; his dearly loved brothers and sisters, Harvey (Elsie), Oswald (Joan), Doreen (Al) Rathgeber, Helmuth (Lorraine), Albin (Morag), Walter (Maxene), Arnold (Marnie), Frank (Cathy), and Esther (Gary) Davis; and seventy-one nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Adolf and Hedwig; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernard Mack, Eleanor Dietrich, George, and Lynn Hunter.
