Obituary of Jeanette Agnes Rathgeber

Jeanette Agnes Rathgeber (nee Sparkman) of Calgary, formerly of Melville, SK, passed away peacefully at the AgapÚ Manor Hospice in Calgary in the afternoon of Sunday, December 21, 2003, at the age of 61 years. Jeanette was born May 13, 1942 in Langenburg, SK, and was raised there as well as the Neudorf area. Jeanette was a Nurse’s Aid for a short time before she met Elmer Rathgeber. They were married on May 23, 1960 and had three sons. Jeanette loved the camping life and spent numerous summers at Good Spirit Lake with her family and friends. She also enjoyed curling and watching her children participate in sports. Jeanette will be fondly remembered for her kindness and generosity, as well as her love and devotion to her family. She touched everyone in her special way, and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. Jeanette is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Connie and their children Daniel and Kaitlyn, of Prince Albert, SK, Tim and Bonnie and their children Shallyn and Brayden, and Brent and Susan and their children Rebecca, Breanne, and Nicole, all of Calgary. She is also survived by her mother Elspeth Sparkman of Calgary; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lorraine and Dave Ferguson of Calgary, and Phyllis and Howard Cockwill of Salmon Arm, BC; and a brother and sister-in-law Donald and Winnie Sparkman of Swan River, MB; sister-in-law Shirley and Joe DeCorby; brother-in-law Earl Chesney; and her special friend Garth Mullan of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jeanette was predeceased by her husband Elmer in 1995, father George Sparkman in 1984, and brothers Lloyd Sparkman in 1974 and Kenny Sparkman in 1978. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Saturday, December 27, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Errol Rempel of Harvest Hills Alliance Church officiating. A Funeral Service will also be held at Matthews Funeral Home (750 – 6th Avenue W., Melville, SK), on Monday, December 29, 2003.
