Obituary of James McCormick Mickel
James McCormick Mickel, Chief (rtd), beloved husband of Margaret of Calgary, died at his home on Sunday, November 30, 2003 (St. Andrew’s Day) at the age of 80 years.
Jim was born in Bathgate, Scotland on April 25, 1923 and served with H.M. Navy Fleet Air Arm. He immigrated to Vancouver, BC in 1952 and joined the Canadian Pacific Police Service, serving in Vancouver, Edmonton, Ottawa, Calgary and Montreal, ending his career as Chief of the Department. Whilst in Montreal he was proud to serve as Clerk of Session to the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul for thirteen years.
Besides his much-loved wife, he is survived by his loved and respected son Derek; his granddaughter Jamie and her husband Colin of Toronto; granddaughters, Stephanie and Kelly of Calgary and their mother Linda; one sister in England, twin sister Nancy and brother Bill in Scotland, and two great-grandchildren, Mira and Kyle.
Funeral Services will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church (1009 – 15th Avenue S.W.) on Friday, December 5, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. To forward condolences go to www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
