Obituary of Ernest Maxwell Taylor

Ernest Maxwell (Max) Taylor beloved husband of Mrs. Catherine Taylor of Calgary, passed away at home on Thursday November 27, 2003 after a heart attack at the age of 86 years. Max was born on December 30, 1916 in Halkirk, AB and attended Camrose Normal School to train as a teacher. He taught at Kindergarten, a German community south of Botha, AB; then at Halkirk and finally at Barrhead. During this time he married Catherine Drinnan from Gadsby, AB. He joined the Navy and was stationed at Halifax. Returning to Halkirk following the war, he joined the family business. He was an active participant and volunteer in the community. He and Catherine were blessed with five children, and in 1967, they moved to Calgary. Max was predeceased by his daughter Mariane Spence on November 17, 2003. He is survived by his wife Catherine; his children, Jane (Neil) Olsen, Diane (Ron) French; son-in-law Grant Spence, Malcolm “Mike” (Linda) Taylor, and Cameron (Anne) Taylor; his grandchildren, David (Shauna), Andrea, and Leah Olsen, Jennette (Kelly) Somerville, Leanne (Mike) McFadden, Karen (Greg) Zazzara, Andrew (Christie) Spence, Stuart and Matthew Taylor; his great-grandchildren Michael, Andrew, Courtney, Julia and Sarah. He is also survived by a brother, Gordon (Anna) of Stettler and a sister, Kathryn Smith of Santa Barbara.
