Obituary of Alan James Bamford

Alan (Luke) James Bamford of Calgary passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 to join his wife Shirley, who predeceased him in 1985. Alan and Shirley moved from the Kew Beach area of Toronto to Calgary on January 1, 1960 to open the Western Canadian Branch of Continental Casualty Assurance, which is now known as Citadel Assurance, retiring after thirty-eight years of service. He had a great passion for gardening, enjoyed curling, golfing, and dancing and was an avid sports enthusiast. Alan is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Kirk and Barbara and Jim and Michelle, all of Calgary; two daughters and one son-in-law, Dale and Wayne of Calgary and Chris of Regina, SK; eleven grandchildren, Kelly, Heather, Michelena, Rob, Sandi, Karen, Scott, Jessica, Sheila, Caleb, and Aiden; as well as nine great-grandchildren, Anthony, Stephen, Madeleine, Luke, Beck, Kambal, Kate, Joseph and Jeromi. He is also survived by his brother Brian (Janet); brothers-in-law, Jack (Ruth) Watson and Bob Black; and sister-in-law Jean Dawe, all of Ontario.
