Obituary of Zora M. Salopek
Zora M. Salopek, beloved wife of the late Tony Salopek, passed on peacefully Sunday, November 23, 2003 due to complications from kidney disease. Zora passed on in the loving arms of her son John Salopek.
Zora was born near Modrus, Croatia on March 10, 1932 to Jure and Kata Gasparovic. She immigrated to Canada in 1960 and made her home with Tony and John in Regina, SK until she came to Calgary in 1986 to help raise her grandchildren. Lovingly known as ‘Baba’, she will be remembered for her strong faith in God, her love for her family and her very generous and giving nature. Words alone cannot express the magnitude of our sorrow at the loss of our mother and Baba, nor our joy of Zora’s passing to a pain free eternity with her beloved Tony.
Zora is survived and forever loved by her granddaughters, Amanda and Vanessa Salopek; her daughter-in-law Janet Salopek, all of Calgary; her brother and sister-in-law George and Eileen Gasparavic of Wolverhampton, England; her sisters Milka Poljak and Kate Salopek with brother-in-law Jure of Ogulin, Croatia; her sister-in-law Milka Gasparavic of Cleveland, OH; and many relatives in her homeland of Croatia.
“Baba we miss you, we love you. You will be forever our Guardian Angel. Rest in Peace”.
