Condolences
Hans was a very special man and it was a privilege to know him.
When I heard the news I felt like my heart just dropped to the pit of my stomach. It seems like yesterday that Hans and I hit some balls at Mount Pleasant Tennis Club. I won’t have that chance again.
I remember watching him play when I first joined Mount Pleasant. He inspired me so much of how many balls he could hit over the net, low and fast. I learnt a lot from Hans. He is a great teacher.
Thank you Hans so much for making me addicted to the game of tennis to this day. It is an honor to know you, someone with countless contributions to the world of tennis and beyond. You and Inge will be missed, always…
My sincere sympathy to your family and friends.
Someone of Hans’ caliber of commitment is so rare in our society and his ongoing involvement in the Calgary Tennis scene was a testament of his character. He will be sorely missed.
I had the pleasure to work with Hans over the years on the Tennis Canada Seniors committee. He was respected by his peers and a pleasure to work with. He was passionate about tennis and in particular seniors tennis. He stood by his principles and had a great work ethic. We are going to miss him dearly.
Hans was my mentor at Canadian Petroleum Association, right from the day he hired me in June 1980, to his retirement. Hans was always so giving of his time in our days together; I learned so much about the oil and gas industry just by sitting in his office as he took the time to educate the public and media about the complexities of the industry. This education process continued when Hans and I would meet for lunch after his retirement.
Hans….Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity. My condolences to your family and friends.

but rather openings in heaven
where the love of our lost ones pours through
and shines down upon us

The present members of the Calgary 5th. Dimension Outdoor Club were sorry and saddened to read of Hans Maciej’s recent passing. Both Hans and his late wife Inge were founding members of this club that was formed almost 26 years ago.
During these years Hans and Inge were well respected, valuable members of our club who showed great skills whether hiking in the summer in many of our mountain hikes or skiing these same trails during the winter months.
We offer our sincere sympathy to Hans’ extended family and friends at this difficult time. We also mourn the loss of a great gentleman who was a friend to many of us.
My deep sympathies for Hans’ family. He was a ‘wise elder’ and funloving man with whom I shared a great rapport while living in Calgary and volunteering for tennis in Alberta. He had such a twinkle in his eye and smile on his face all the time; he was a pleasure to work with. He introduced me to his team, Schalke, and various things German, which I still hold dear. He probably said it best, he did make a difference in this world; and a big difference to those who knew him. Congratulations, Hans, you did great job…
Thank you Hans for your wonderful contributions to tennis and genorisity and kindness to everyone at Mount Pleasant. I hope you get to play doubles tennis with yout wife when you meet her again.
My condolences to your family and friends.
