I was saddened to hear the news of Bill’s passing. We became good friends over the course of time. While I held the position of Chief Justice I looked to him for advice.
Bill was a gentleman, a man of faith, and a generous contributor to the success of our province.
May he rest in peace,
Bette and Allan Wachowich
I am so sorry to hear of Bill’s death. My husband, Marv, worked at Canada Cities Service when Bill was working his way to the Presidency. He had the highest respect for Bill and also had the privilege of considering himself a friend. I was happy to get to know Bill better in Apache Wells and also you, Lois. He will be missed. You have my sympathy. Sincerely Vi.
My sincere condolences to the Mooney family. I first met Bill when I started to work at Alberta Natural Gas in the 90’s. What a kind soul and a complete gentleman! He always remembered everyone and it was a joy to “bump” into him in the +15s. RIP
Deepest sympathy to Tim, Margo, Joey, Katie and Anna on the loss of your Dad and Grandfather. His story is truly unique and the stuff of legends. Cherish your memories and love of him in your hearts and minds–that is where he still lives. With sincere condolences to you and your extended Mooney family.
Dear Lois: Although each life ends in death, we think that those who lived life “larger than life” will go on forever. So with Bill’s passing, we remember his engaging, all encompassing personality–his ability to make each person in the room feel as if he/she was important. Along with his robust and endearing sense of humour, these are the things we will remember the most about Bill. He was a charmer, an entertainer and a good friend to many people.
Bill’s connection to Athol Murray College of Notre Dame is the reason we came to know him as a friend. We will remember the opportunities we had to be together in Arizona wit a host of friends in common. We will be thinking of you and your family as you prepare for life without this huge personality. Many you treasure the years you had together. Our sincere condolences

Bill was a mentor and friend to my father Peter. From giving him his start in the Canadian Oil Patch to speaking at his funeral March of this year. His family is a living testament to his character and his charm, wit and humanity will be forever remembered.
A role model to the end!
Bill was a true patriarch. I have been blessed to attend many Mooney family gatherings that were, and are, always filled with love, mutual respect, and tremendous humor. These characteristics are no doubt due to the example set by Bill and carried forward by his loving family. This is a real legacy.
I’m grateful to have known Bill, and very thankful to still recall a couple of his countless jokes.
Thankyou Bill!
Our deepest condolences on your loss of Bill, a man of outstanding accomplishment in all his

energy, commitment and of course his keen sense of humour and winning smile.

Dear Lois and family, Bill & Tim
I am so sorry to hear of your loss and my heart and thoughts go out to you all during this difficult time.. I often reminisce of our hectic teen years living in Haysboro and your family house was open to all visitors and friends. It is good to know that Bill will rest easy and is probably having a good chuckle right now with all the other great ” dads ” of the neighbourhood! His love and guidance will be with you all going forward.
Sincerely,
Pat & Betty
Dear Lois and Family,
I am sad to hear of your loss and all of our loss. Bill was a tremendous individual full of life, energy, wit, and a strong drive to do the right actions. Bill’s wisdom about life exceeded even his large capacity for humor and making friends. I both made new friends and laughed every time without exception when around Bill and to this day follow his advice. His smile, wisdom, and humor will always be with you.

Your Dad was always someone to look up to and always enjoyed running into him in downtown Calgary with a story about the old times or a joke…… He will be missed.
I was 14 years old when I first arrived at Notre Dame and met one of my lifelong hero’s – Bill Mooney.
Bill’s strength of commitment, love of life and solid countenance will live far far beyond his years.
While there are so many, Bill Mooney was one of the leaders of Notre Dame’s great guys.
Bill Mooney, great great guy!!

Dear Lois and family: Bill Mooney was almost a household name when I was growing up in the 60’s and 70’s. My dad, Peter (RIP), spoke of Bill often- with gratitude and great fondness. We wish you strength navigating this difficult time of loss.
An amazing Albertan and Canadian. A true builder. A true friend to so many. A true gentleman. What a legacy, which lives on in his Family.
The Lougheed Family
Dear Lois and all family members. Many have remembered a great man, and I echo those special memories. Fr. Athol Murray would be with our Lord Jesus to welcome Bill home. God bless all who have known a gentle giant.
Fondest regards: Hugh Delaney
To the Mooney Family,
I remember the first time I met Lois and Bill at the Oilmen’s so many years ago. We were just newcomers to Calgary and the land of Oil Giants. Bill and Lois were welcoming and put us to ease with their Western hospitality. Like others who have shared memories of Bill’s lighter side, I recall when he took a position in the band and mimicked a phenomenal lip-sync trumpet solo. It took the whole place down. There are so many treasured memories of those years with Lois by his side. Bill Mooney will be remembered as an industry giant that contributed to the legendary Calgary and Canadian Oil and Gas history.
Bill, Mike and family. My sincere condolences to the family for the loss of your father. I had the great pleasure of meeting your father a few times. He made one feel like they were the most important person in his presence. I never left without a laugh. He will live forever in you boys. My sincere sympathy. Tom Kelly
To the Mooney Family,
So saddened to hear your loss of your husband and father, such a great man and pillar in the community. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you…
Bill, you gave my dad his start at a time when having an accent and foreign credentials were a much bigger obstacle than they are today. Thank you for believing in him.
Dear Melissa and family,
When I think of your Dad it brings a smile to my face and heart. We are sorry for you loss. He will be missed by many.
Kathy and Jim Brown

Dear Lois,
We were so sorry to hear of Bill’s passing and we will remember him fondly. Our greatest memory
will be Bill as “Chief Walking Eagle” at the 1994 Oilmen’s, which Doug chaired. He was just a delight
and regaled the crowd with so many good stories – no one could tell them like Bill. You could meet
him a little later and he would say “oh, I forgot to tell you this one”! He was a remarkable man and
we know he will be missed very much. Our sincere condolences to you and your family.
Doug and Barbara Baldwin.
Dear Lois and family,
Just heard the sad news of Bill’s passing, from his sister. I was glad to have seen both of you on my visit to Mesa a few years ago. The whole Murphy family mourns his loss and we will remember him fondly. Our sincere condolences.

Dear Lois, and family,
Bill’s legendary leadership and kindness will long remain in our hearts and the hearts of all Alumni privileged to have known him. His faith in a God that cuts through the trappings of many formal religions, is an Athol Murray inspired legacy that he leaves to us all.
I can see Bill as the new leader of ‘Athol’s Army’ in Heaven, and I can just imagine the hilarious boot camp that is going to be.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.
Terry and Phil McGarry
So sorry for your loss.Your dad(husband, Lois) was a giant in our eyes. With the close connection of our families it feels like we’ve lost an uncle. He was a great and generous man with a social conscience. He has left a legacy of strong caring children. He has accomplished so much through his work and philanthropical practices. I hope you can take solace in knowing his was a life well lived. Love and condolences to the whole Mooney family.
Dear Lois and family….. I was surprised and saddened to read about Bill’s death. It was less than two weeks since I visited with Bill at the church and we recounted the social times and fun you and Bill, Don and I had enjoyed over the years. Treasure the memories and shared family times and forever know that Bill’s smile and huge heart will be cherished by all of us who knew him. Shirley Smith and family
Dear Lois,
Rosemary Boulton this morning sent us the sad news of Bill’s passing. So the PGT gang has been in touch by email, all reminiscing about the impact that Bill had upon all of us. His wit and his wisdom have given all of us wonderful memories. Bill will always loom large as we think about the years 1988-1993 and the contruction of the pipeline project.
Steve and I will try to obtain some contact information to be in touch more directly. But in the meantime, our thoughts are with you and your family.
Dear Lois and Family
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your Family.
A wonderful friend and legend.
God Bless
Bill & Sharon Woodward
