Obituary of Edna Irene HRYNEW

HRYNEW, Edna Irene January 15, 1934 – Fairy Glen, Saskatchewan April 30, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta Edna Hrynew passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the age of 82 years. Edna had a long and esteemed career in commercial insurance and eventually risk management in oil and gas. Work started at Pacific Petroleum at a young age, had children, then returned to USF&G, Marsh and McLennan, Reed Stenhouse and Markel. She worked her way up through the ranks at Pacific then Home Oil and was honored to be the President of the Southern Alberta Risk Management Society 1982-84. She was a hard working professional balancing work with raising 3 children in Calgary. Her friends will always remember her as someone who always had time for them and who always found the bright side of a situation. Her smile, laugh and giving attitude will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Retiring from her office work in 1987 she continued to live a full and happy life travelling with Peter to many places worldwide, including visiting family in Sweden and Australia. Edna also enjoyed wintering in Arizona for the past 30 years, golfing and playing shuffleboard– an Arizona State Champion Shuffler! Edna is survived by her 3 children Gregory Taylor, Cindy Rutherford and Kathleen Taylor, step children Larry (Michele) Hrynew, Patricia Studer (Ed Rochon) and Ken (Karen) Hrynew and grandchildren Amber Taylor, Chad (Amber) Taylor, Alexander Neal, Samantha (Dallas Stainthorp) Neal, Megan Taylor, Tori (Shane) Healing, Jason Studer, Kimberly Lawrence, Crissie (Jason) Richards, Kelly (Chris) Brady in addition to many greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews and her first husband Ray Taylor. She was predeceased by her husband Peter and her 6 sisters and 4 brothers. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
